This is a huge and detailed type of map. There are many rivers, hills, mountains, forests, cities and castles. Every game master should at least have one of these. I use this type of map as a continent, but it also works fine as a world map.

It all depends on how much details, how many changes, how much text, you want. If you want layers, night, day, winter, summer, etc.
